Stamford, CT + Westchester, NY
Hiking near the Kensico Reservoir in Valhalla, NY was one of the highlights of my summer! We rented a car using the personal car renter app Turo and just start driving. It's so much fun to be able to get around the city without having to walk or take the subway and we got to go places we'd probably never go to otherwise!
The pictures I took below are from our hikes, one in Stamford and the other near the Kensico dam, which was completed in 1917. The dam was aquired as parkland in 1963 from the New York City Watershed Commission and stilln remains the property of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection today. The dam is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Bronx River Parkway Reservation.
