New York City: Best Greek Restaurants Rated by a Greek

Ranked BEST to WORST…

Avra

  • You just can’t go wrong. Both locations are fantastic.

Milos

  • Always delivers. Always delicious. Always expensive.

Pylos

  • Doesn’t have the same “WOW” factor as Avra and Milos but is still charming and much more intimate. Food is high quality and the service is wonderful. I’ve been 5+ plus times and I’ve never been disappointed, A true East Village gem.

Kyma

  • Love the “vibe”. They have a DJ on the weekends playing Greek music and the crowd is always lively. The food is nothing special or mind-blowing, but it is a fun and entertaining dining experience with lots of young people who look like instagram models, so you won’t see me complaining.

Limani

  • The have a pool in the middle of the restaurant, hence the name. Food was good, service was good. The place was pretty empty for a Saturday night and mostly consisted of tourists, but good nonetheless.

Kyklades

  • Solid but definitely over hyped. Do not wait longer than 30 minutes to eat at this place.

Periyali

  • Didn’t love the restaurant or the service but the food was cooked to perfection. Their octopus was truly out of this world. We finished the first one and ordered a second! The feta was true greek feta, and the dishes were all bold and delicious.

Anassa Taverna

  • My family loved Anassa when we first discovered it back in 2015. The quality / service has unfortunately declined each time I’ve gone back, so I’m not sure I would feel comfortable recommending it over some of the places listed above!

Molyvos

  • Another one that used to be amazing. Not so much anymore. The place was empty of a Saturday night and they missed the mark on each and every dish we ordered. Sad.

Elena’s

  • Cute decor, food was decent. Definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to go eat there again.

Under the Bridge

  • Weird location on 2nd Avenue that is inconvenient to get to. Small place, nothing special. Nobody there was Greek.

Souvlaki GR

  • Horrible management. Horrible service, They over pack their restaurants (they refuse to turn the air conditioning on in the summertime!!) and they burn all of their meats. Just don’t.

Barbounia

  • Hardly a Greek restaurant. A lot of other Turkish / Mediterranean influences in their dishes.

11 Hanover Greek

  • The fish was bone dry, not even olive oil and lemon could salvage the charred mess they bought us… super disappointed in this experience, especially since the decor is beautiful and the restaurant has potential.

Village Taverna

  • Speaking from personal experience, I celebrated my graduation dinner at this restaurant with 15+ people and it was not a good experience. I would NOT recommend booking large parties at this venue).

To be determined…
